Coincidence?
So we have scientists predicting the singularity - the creation of machines that make us smarter, which in turn allow us to develop even better machines that make us even smarter than that, etc, etc. They predict this will happen in the next 30 - 50 years.
Then we have economists predicting that the per-capita GDP will run into the 2 - 20 million dollar range in the next 50 - 70 years.
And last we have other scientists predicting that we will identify and fix most diseases and causes of aging in the next 30 - 50 years.
Wow. Each of these really feeds off of the others. If we can avoid getting hit by an asteroid, or having the Yosemite Super-volcano erupt or having the Canary islands calve off half of their mass into the sea, many of us might live to see a future that will make our current lives look like Dark Age squalor.
