Federated Health Care

Matt Yglesias talks about Universal Health Care. And I continue to cringe whenever he talks about "significant federal involvement".

So here's my proposal. Work on California to adopt single-payer statewide. Let's see how it works in California. If it works great, and people love it, other states will adopt it, and the US health care payer model will come fairly close to resembling the EU health care model. And, if it works in California, you might have the votes necessary for the constitutional amendment required to legitimately offer universal healthcare.
