Agile Tar Pit
On the Scrum Development Yahoo Group, there's an interesting discussion started by Tobias Mayer. He is a former Yahoo software developer, and left under less than happy circumstances.
The discussion centers around claims that Yahoo is doing Scrum. Tobias feels that while this is perhaps technically true, that Yahoo is not at all adhering to the spirit of Scrum, or of agile methodologies in general. (The Dilbert cartoon in my previous post seems oddly prescient).
You can read the whole post here.
From my perspective, I think we should simply stop holding up Yahoo as a reference point until this can be further investigated. Yahoo doesn't "lose" anything by us refusing to mention them. But the Agile community has a lot to lose from cynics pointing at Yahoo and sneering "See, the Scrum community holds Yahoo up as a reference client, and they're just another death-march organization"
Just my $0.02
