Atlanta Architects Group - January 11th, 2006 meeting
This was a "guru" session, where three guys got up and talked about their environments, what tools they used, etc.
- All three use agile practices - iterative development, unit tests, continuous integration. One uses Scrum, one uses FDD, I don't remember what the third used
- All three *loved* JIRA as a bug and issue tracking tool.
- The guy from Turner waxed poetic about KaliberRM as a requirements management tool
- Recommendations:
- Don't allow checkins to the trunk (probably overkill for a small company)
- Ask and answer all questions via the Wiki
- All design discussion that happens in email should happen on the Wiki instead
- Don't allow checkins to the trunk (probably overkill for a small company)
- They all felt that automated testing dramatically increases the effectiveness of one tester, and is a great way to save money vs. hiring additional testers.
